Tom Stewart for No-Nonsense Government

Over the past weeks, we’ve covered 2 of my 3 goals, and 1 of the 3 channels I plan to move those goals through to facilitate the best possible outcome for the city. Today I’ll both review and reveal as I cover the second channel: no-nonsense government.

To help establish a no-nonsense government, I propose reducing the number of city council meetings to at least every other week. On those in-between weeks, I plan to hold coffee chat sessions and even the occasional “beer hall.” This will give me the opportunity to talk with constituents between meetings and listen to their concerns and opinions… to check in with them to be sure I’m serving them well and representing their voice on the council, holding me accountable.

As your At-Large representative, I will strive to ensure that the Lansing City Council as a whole is working to enforce city codes consistently and fairly in your neighborhood.
I know first hand the hurdles one must jump when tackling a new business venture and how overwhelming making that first step can be. I will work to remove the barriers to economic success for everyday Lansing residents.

Your Lansing City Council shouldn’t be caught up in political games or denying opportunities for your voice to be heard. It’s quite clear it’s time for new leadership in Lansing – I hope you’ll help me in leading that change with your vote on November 8th.

As always, I welcome your feedback and ideas. Thank you for your continued support!
